Hello! Well we've made it safely to New Zealand and have been celebrating Ann's 19th 21st birthday with her! Unfortunately the 5 month holiday is over and the job hunt has now begun! So we thought we'd better update the last part of our Australian travels......
We arrived in Melbourne following our final overnight greyhound bus (how we will miss sleeping upright and the 3am meal breaks!). Unfortuantely again no comedy Australian bus driver just some Scottish dude who must have got bored of the megabus!
We stayed in Melbourne for about 5 days taking in the sights! One highlight was our neighbours day! This included visiting Ramsey Street in the afternoon with a comedy Irish tour guide and lots of other British tourists! We watched Kylie and Jason get married on the mini-bus's DVD player, met some new character called Donna (!?) and took loads of photos in front of all the houses! In the evening we met up with Gemma one of our Fraser Island friends and a few others to head to the neighbours night! This involved a neighbours themed pub quiz, meeting some of the characters - Dr Kennedy, Steve Parker, Rowena and Irish Conner, watching Paul Robinson performing covers and finally Dr K's band!!
Lindsay's cousins Tracey also very kindly showed us the sights of Brunswick Street where an afternoon of shopping, sightseeing and pizza turned into an evening of wine, jazz bands and bottle shop bars! She also made us the best ever cherry ripe chocolate brownies carrying on from the cherry ripe cake theme!
Other higlights included the trams and the edge! The edge is a glass box at the top of a huge tower in which they put about 10 unsuspecting tourists in and then slide the whole thing out of the building! You are left standing on and surrounded by glass about 300m high with no way out! Not a wee glass floor you can walk over as expected! We also went on a day tour which took in all the main sights along The Great Ocean Road including the 12 apostles, London bridge and the lighthouse where old kids TV program Around the Twist was filmed!
After a 2am start we boarded our next plane to New Zealand............. Updates to follow but one higlight so far was when Ann tried to order a pizza hut and the pizza ended up a few hundred miles away in Waunganui instead of Mount Maunganui! Apparently New Zealand people don't get the Keith accent as she has also recently had an AA man waiting there for her!
