I enjoyed another snorkel after breakfast at Blue Pearl Bay this morning, where we managed to find Nemo! I'm still not too comfortable with the whole swimming with fish thing - glad to have done it, but won't be desperate to do it again in future. Besides, I haven't been stung by a jellyfish yet so maybe I'll quit whilst I'm ahead!
We then moved on to Langford Island to look for sea turtles before heading directly to our final destination - Airlie Beach. I had an awesome time on the yacht, but am very glad to be back on dry land.
It's so incredibly hot here, we're all sweating just sitting still! The main street of Airlie Beach in under construction but they have a lovely big lagoon where I enjoyed swimming this afternoon, safe in the knowledge that there were no sharks or jelly fish! There are clearly plenty of very wealthy people here too - there are several posh looking houses and apartments overlooking the beach and marina.
We're staying in the Base Hostel, which also has it's own swimming pool. I feel like I'm still on a boat mind! I went for a hot and sticky run along the coastal path at about 6pm, thinking it would be more pleasant at that time, but it was still incredibly humid. 6 miles felt like 16! At least it saved my skin from the worst heat of the sun - I've spent more than enough time in it over the last couple of days.
We've just been for dinner at Fish D'vine, a great restaurant a short walk down the street. It was a little pricier than my usual backpackers meal, but totally worth it and great to eat together as a group.
P.S. I have put up a few more photos of the sailing trip in a separate album in the photo section.
