After a great nights sleep we booked a night bus, packed up our stuff, checked out and headed into the city for the day. At 4.30 am we set off in the dark with torches for the long awaited hike up to Machu Picchu; I was so so excited. Waking up in the dark on top of a mountain in a tent was a bizarre experience. We had a feast of a breakfast consisting of porridge, pancakes, bread and warm drinks and set off around 7am to reach the peak of the mountain.
