After spending the morning chilling and sunbathing we got ready to go scuba diving! I was a little bit nervous having not been diving in just under two years (since I got my Open Water in Thailand), but once I was l wet-suited up and on the roof of the boat sailing around the islands I was too excited to be nervous. There were four people in our group and our dive master was called Hai - a super funny guy. Hayley also happened to be on the same boat!
As soon as I started descending under the water I remembered why diving had made such a lasting effect on me. It really is just absolutely incredible; a whole other world under the ocean and being able to essentially breath under water and float weightless around with all the fish is amazing. The dive spot we went to was called Turtle Heaven and that is exactly what it was. We saw so many turtles swimming around in their natural habitat - the first one we spotted was majestically gliding upwards in the big blue ocean with nothing else surrounding it. It truly was an astonishing sight. We saw one turtle munching away at some coral and Hai kept communicating that he was so hungry - it was so so cute! We saw a great array of fish and were able to swim so close to the coral to see all the little fish nestled in there. The currents at this spot were surprisingly strong so for most of the dive we just drifted without having to swim at all. It was funny spotting Hayley under water too and I waved frantically like an idiot when I saw her. After 50 minutes of being down under the sea with all the sea creatures we surfaced again and got back on the boat. I love turtles and I cannot wait to dive again very soon.
We went for a great dinner at the street market again and then returned to our hostel for a big night out - Emily's last night in Asia (so sad!). There are two Canadian guys who we have been out with every night called Taylor and Dayne who I hope to also see in Lombok. We got super drunk as always and danced around like crazy people, being silly and having such a fun night. We ended up at a massive Irish bar with such good people; I went to bed around 5 am after giving a guy a kiss for a slice of his pizza (I'm so classy). What a way to end our time on this island.
