We said goodbye to Michael and got a ferry from Padang Bai to Gili Trawangan, one of the Gili Islands. The ferry ride was so relaxing as we sat on the top roof of the boat - with a Bintang - and sailed past gorgeous Islands in the sea breeze.
Within my first minute on Gili I knew I was going to love it! There are no motorised vehicles allowed on the island so transport is either walking, cycling or via horse and cart (which seems so bizarre). We checked in at our hostel Gili Backpackers and decided to go for a wander. We actually ended up walking the entire circumference of the island, stopping for dinner and making it to the West coast for the most unbelievable sunset I have ever seen; the colours and clouds were breathtaking with views of two other islands in the near distance (Gili Meno and Lombok).
The drinking began at the hostel bar which is really social and pretty cheap. We met loads of great people and went out together to a couple of bars. One bar had such great live music and I have flashbacks of Emily and I drunkenly jumping and bounding around like idiots having a blast. The next bar had beer pong tables and Emily and I ended up on a team which was hilarious and so much fun. We did a ton of dancing and a lot of laughing - what a great first night.
