Hey one and all. Quick update since Brisbane! We headed to the beautiful Noosa - an absolutely gorgeous place with a fantastic National Park on the headlands of the coast. A great coastal walk along all the coves and bays, as well some great walk back through the thick of the koala infested bush! Did about 12km walk and really had a blast - good to get some shade from the sunshine too!
Beautiful beaches and bays and a great laid-back lifestyle in Noosa, we took some kayaks out (to struggle against the tide in the river...) but was all good fun, and resulted in a well deserved HUGE BBQ on the riverside in the open air, under the stars - very novel.
We have since then headed on the overnight bus up to Whitsunday and Airley Beach - on the southern most point of the Great Barrier Reef. Spending a couple of days here chilling out at the 'Blue Lagoon' (a great and more importantly free, open-air landscaped pool) and on the great boardwalk walk around the marina and shingley beach. Stayed up last night to watch the Lions match with a few other people we have met (some welsh, Brummys, French, Ukranian, Swedish, American - you name it, the hostel is really sociable - we've even met our first cockroaches - nice!) accompanied by a jug or two of very expensive beer! A rare treat!
