Day 115 (Sunday 30th March 08)

Up early and as usual in a rush to go and get some breakfast and then to be ready and waiting at 9:30am at the bottom of the hill for the bus to the boat. But as normal we then had to wait as no one is ever on time over here! A quick bus journey down to the boat and left our bags on the top deck while we went down below to put some suncream on. Once the boat was under way we made our way back up top as we had seen some amazing scenery so wanted to get some pictures. Along the way we saw some amazing fish that would jump out of the water and then swim along the surface for a while. Mark attempted to get some photos and video footage but they were too quick! After about a 3 hour journey we arrived at the pier in Koh Lanta. As soon as we were off the boat we were surrounded by people offering us accommodation and wanting us to go with them. We quickly realised that this was where we were in a strong postion to bargain down prices as when someone else said a lower price than the other you just said well he is telling me x price and they all went lower! Decided to go and have a look at one of the places but knowing we were also interested in one of the others so said we might turn up later. Got taken to a truck with some other people in and then taken to see the place. Decided it was ok but as there was no pool here and at the other one there were 2 we thought we would go and have a look at the next one. Waited while they called Lanta New Beach Bungalows and about 15 mintues later we picked up. After a quick look we knew that the bungalows definitely weren't new! They were pretty dirty but didn't want to carry on wandering round with our backpacks so decided to book in for 2 nights. Left our bags and went for a swim and a lie by the pool. We then used Skype and had something cheap to eat, finding it hard to resist the seafood they had out!

Day 116 (Monday 31st March 08)

Not a very good night's sleep as the beds are uncomfy! - back to backpacker beds! Had some lunch and got ourselves organised. Went for a walk along the road until a taxi came past as we wanted to get to Long Beach to have a look if there was any better cheaper accommodation there, knowing it was unlikely. Eventually a guy came past and he dropped us at his bungalows but they were too expensive so we carried on along the beach asking at places along the way. Found somewhere that was the same price we were paying but it was with a shared bathroom and no TV so decided we were probably better off where we were. Bought some bottles of water from a shop and picked up a taxi to take us back to our bungalows. Bought an ice cream and chilled out for a while. Had something cheap to eat and realised there wasn't as many people around today as it was very windy.

Day 117 (Tuesday 1st April 08)

Another lazier morning - getting back into our backpacker ways! Sorted out all of our washing as we had hung it all out in the room after we had got it back the day before as they had given it back to us wet! Repacked our bags to get it to all fit in again. Finally went and had some lunch and then went for a walk along the beach to look for somewhere we could go fishing with the rods. Noticed some rocks at the end of the beach that might be some good. Walked back towards the bungalows in the boiling hot heat finding some more shells to add to our collection along the way! Sat out playing cards, lots of backpacker! Used the internet for ages to sort out our CVs to send off for hopefully some work in Oz! Updated a bit of our blog and then went for something to eat. Watched the amazing lightning.

Day 118 (Wednesday 2nd April 08)

Lay in yet again and got up for some lunch. Sat out playing lots of backpacker and then a bit of UNO. Went for a swim and then carried on playing lots of cards! Another storm then started with lots of rain so we sat on our balcony and watched the rain pour down. Went to use the internet and our card wouldn't work so decided to give it half an hour and try again. Still had no luck so the guy had to call and sorted out which luckily was easily done. Wrote up all of our blog for our time at Koh Pha Ngan and then as we went to save it the computer lost it! We were not happy, spent ages and it was all lost! Very hungry by now so went for something to eat and decided then we should probably try and write it all again now while it was in our heads! So spent yet more time on the internet! Was nice to get it finished and go and chill out! Mark then set up the rods for us to go fishing tomorrow.

Day 119 (Thursday 3rd April 08)

Up very early to go off along the beach and find somewhere to go with the rods. Looked on the rocks at the end of our beach but decided it was too rocky and that we needed to go up and over the headland to try the next bay. As we got to the top of the headland we realised we must have interupted something! There were 2 naked women having their pictures taken by two guys. Looked like we had walked into a porn shoot! Very weird!! Quickly moved on and down to the next bay but still no good sites for fishing. Made our way back up the hill a slightly different way and carried onto the next bay going through lots of jungle. Went down a steep slope and found a very nice beach. No one else was around and it seemed the only way to get on and off the beach was the way we came down so decided this would be a good place to see if we could catch any fish. Fished for a while without any luck so made our way back to the bungalows. Left our rods in the room and went up the road to get some more water. Came back for a shower and then went for some lunch. Chilled out for the rest of the afternoon playing cards and reading our books. Late afternoon there was a massive storm with lots of lightning, thunder and rain! We sat outside under cover and watched. A couple of nights before we had found out from one of the guys that worked here that the bad weather has started here earlier than it usually does but that it gets a lot worse in the monsoon season. Used the internet and then went to the next door resort for something to eat. Had some good food but lots of bugs around so didn't stay long!

Day 120 (Friday 4th April 08)

Up later again this morning and both into our books! Got some cheap lunch and then yet again played some more backpacker! Spent the rest of the day chilling out reading our books and playing cards! Used the internet to finish writing our blog. Had some food at our resort and then chilled out playing yet more cards!

Day 121 (Saturday 5th April 08)

Up earlier today for our last day by the pool. Went up the road to get some water and then back for some breakfast/lunch. Lay on the sunloungers soaking up the rays but it was so hot had to get in the pool every 2 minutes! Needed some time out of the sun so went and sat on the balcony and played cards. Later went for another swim, dried off and then went to use Skype to call home. Had some nice food and treated ourselves to a couple of cocktails being our last night! Any excuse!
