Emma & Fuzzy's Travels
Hi folks! Hows about this - two postcards in one week. Anyone would think I am a lady of leisure...oh, I am! And it's great!
We are now in Surfers Paradise, which is a major tourist resort on the East Coast. We had a free night in a hostel, which was our first experience of sharing a dorm. It was fine actually, and there was only two others in it - a French lad and a Japanese guy. They were very clean, quiet and sociable, so all good. The sun ahs been shining the last few days, but rained again today. Apparently it is the worst weather they have had in a long time. I can honestly say, what we have seen of it so far is much warmer than our summers, so it doesn't seem such a hardship of a winter! People are going about as if it is minus 2 though! Me and fuz are strutting about in shorts and t-shirts and people are going by with hats and scarfs on. Mental.
We have had a good few days and spent the day at sea world yesterday. it was good, but probably aimed more towards the younger generation then we had anticipated. The weather was fab.
We're going to a farmstay next week, which should be interesting. The owners run a jackaroo school and train horses for competing in endurance trials. Not really sure what we will be doing, but looking forward to it. We have to work 4 or 5 hours a day in return for bed and board. Watch this space!! They might turf us out for not working hard enough, or they might jsut feed us grool, make us work 12 hour days and the beds might be made of straw. Like I say, could be interesting...
Fuz is loving the surfing and is trying to convince me to participate in some sea adventure. He was in the water with some dolphins the other day, actually swimming with them. He sh** himslef at first because he thought they were sharks! He was frozen to the spot and obvioulsy had a look of fear and alarm on his face because a local surfer swam up to him and offered reassurance that it was dolphins and not killer sharks! Once he calmed down he got a closer look at them and they were playing around in the water for ages, jumping around and stuff. You just can't top that kind of thing. Even with stories like that, I am taking a little bit of persuading, but may actually venture into the water when the weather gets better. I am considering trying body boarding, but think I need to get used to being in the water first, and not act like I am drowning every time a wave splashes my face. Yeah, there definitley needs to be some work done before I attempt any surfy type stuff. However, I do quite like surf gear and have managed to purchase a couple of nice garments. As long as I look the part, that's the main thing!
Anyway, just heading off to cook tea in the camp kitchen. Facilities so far have been good (nothing like Annan's campsite) and they generally have T.V rooms, swimming pool, a games room and internet access and of course toilets, showers etc.
Congrats to James and Steph on the birth of Lily Marie. Can't wait to see some photos, bet she's gorgeous.
Hope everyone is good. Looking forward to some ROM stories - Theresa I bet your well busy with the costumes, hope you get first prize.
Take care everyone, lots of love, Fuz and EmXXX
