Morning All from a very sunny Bolivia
I am in the beautiful colonial town of Sucre this afternoon having returned from the salt flats above a few days ago. The salt flats were magnificent and as you can see, we had fun setting up silly pictures whilst we were there! We had 4 nights in and around Uyuni town which is the starting point for these visiting the flats and surrounding area where you pick up a driver, cook and 4x4 and head off to explore the high altitude lakes and mountains. The scenery was stunning, the accommodation less so but our cook looked after us very well producing amazing meals at a drop of a hat. We got up to about 5000m at one stage but thankfully I seem to have got used to the altitude. Got some great pictures of the flamingos at Laguna Verde, a lake at 5000m. Also got to see numerous geysers and bubbling mud pools caused by the Licancabur volcano.
After returning to Uyuni town I was very grateful for a hot shower and a very tasty Pizza!
Next stop the silver mines of Potosi.
