I had an amazing day today!! Simon and I spent a day together. We each had a sleep in and met around 10am. We went down to breakfast and got ready for our day! We had an option to do the salt mines but either of us were really interested, so we skipped it and went in to town. We decided to go to Schindler's museum - which is the factory in the Jewish ghetto where Oskar Schindler would employ jew's to work for him around the 1930's - 40's when Hitler was in power. He was a good man and really looked after him! The museum was really good! It was like a war memorial - amazing! After that we walked through the ghetto to see the location of one of the concentration camps! The buildings in the area haven't changed! The ghetto is located on the opposite side of the river in Krakow. During the power of the Nazi's all the Jews in Krakow and surrounding areas where moved there! It was intended to hold 2000 - 3000 people, but ended up being expanded to 18 hectares holding thousands of Jews!! The ghetto is still really eery and creepy!! During the 1940's a massive wall was put around the ghetto in shape of tomb stones! They've all been pulled down now! It's so horrible what the Nazi's did. I can't even comprehend how it's humanely possible to do that to other human beings! We walked about 15km yesterday and when we got back in to town we went to cafe and had a cold drink! We decided we'd stay in town and catch the Topdeck coach back to the hotel, so we walked around and had a look around and wrote some postcards in the park! After that we went for dinner - finally no Italian!! We had Mexican :) on the walk back we ran in to everyone else and Kate and I had some ice-cream. No word of a lie it was the best ice-cream I've ever had! A-maze-ing!! When we got back to the hotel everyone started doing some booking! I booked my flight back to London! I'm doing Slovenia, Ireland ad Scotland on my own! Very excited! All 3 will be amazing!! Tomorrow we leave for Czech republic, Prague!! On the way we're stopping in to Auschwitz/Birkenau - the massive concentration camp in Poland! It's going to very eye opening I think! Lucky I love modern history otherwise I think I'd be too scared!
