Thailand- Heading North
So the Tuk Tuk tour we took in bangkok is the best thing we have done so far, it took us to a travel agents where we booked a 15 day trip heading to chaing mai, and we have been nothing but suprised with the random adventures we have been on;
Day 1- we met on koh san road at 7am and got on a mini bus which took us to the floating market which was great, we floated in a long boat there was a hell of alot going on at 1st we thought the trip wasnt going to be well organised but there were lots of people with us doing different trips and taking different routes, luckely for us there were 2 girls (laura & sarah) Laura from Manchester and Sarah from sittingbourne who were really cool we have spent the last 2 days with them and plan to meet up again in Chaing Mai. After the floating market we went for some food and then on to a war museum which was pretty shabby and crap, there was a man with a leopard outside just chillin in the sun. we then got into a different mini bus with a man and his kid neither of who can speak any English, he took us into the jungle and stopped at what the call a train station (it was a little hut by a railway) we thought he was going to drive off and leave us there, it was all very confusing and exciting....We were litterally in the middle of a Jungle with 3 other people (by this time Aussie hannah had joined us) tables had turned for Luke being the only male!! eventually another 2 mini bus' turned up and lots of chinese, japenese and polish people got off the bus so we were saved...Then a very animated little tai women was explaining that we were taking a train on the death railway which has been there since 1944 we think it was from WW2, we have lots of video's of luke hanging off the side of the train, its quite hard to explain so see video's...we saw lots of mountins with the clouds over the top (like you see on documenty's and railed over the river kwoi. After this we got taken to Kanchanaburi, we are staying on a floating guest house its the most amazing place we have stayed in we are on the River Kwoi when we open the front door we can see the water going quickly down river infront of us, its a family run place and they are lovely and cook great Thai food :) we love it here.
Day 2- We woke up at 8am and went for breakfast, fried egg, toast, cucumber, tomato and dodgy tea which was cold so we thought not to drink that!! after that we went out on a bamboo rafter up river atatched to a long boat with an engine where we saw lots of nice and not so nice houses and saw people living in the trees, then half way up he let the raft go and we floated back down stream past the guest house and to a little village which the man told us was called 'the evil village' :-/ it wasnt so evil when we got off the raft walked up a muddy hill, got to the top and we were in a mini village that had 4 Elephants, they actually didnt tell us about the elephants, we arent sure wether they forgot or wether they like to suprise people here but it was just amazing me and luke were on the 1st elephant and the girls were on the 1 behind she was a female with a baby we loved it. We then got picked up and were taken to the 'hell fire pass memorial, Burma- Thailand Railway if you know about what happend you can imgine what it was like me and luke didnt even know that it had happend and it was even that long ago. On the trail we got very lost we walked about 30 mins past a sign which told us not to walk past it, it was ment to take 40 mins but it took about 2 hours and the funny thing was our drivers son had come with us (this is ther boy that doesnt speak a word of english we have sort of befriended him as he is very cute, i think his dad got slightly worried but had a huge smile on his face for all of us when we eventually got back to the mini bus. We then came back to the floating guest house for lunch and got taken to a waterfall which was more of a park for thai locals it was very cool, lots of familys having picnics and kids swimming, then we went to the tiger temple which was a massive fake place where they exploit and drug tigers so that tourists can have their picture taken with them, its a massive money making scheme and they make out that its a holy place where monks train the tigers but its not and id tell anybody not to go there, Luke had some pictures with the tigers so he got the chance to touch tigers that was pretty much all that was there so not a good place to go to be honest, after that we said good bye to our new friends and headed back to the guest house, tonight we have met 2 aussies who are great they are abit older then us they own about 200 acres of land in Brisbane and they the lease parts of the land where Goeff has made little houses to so far a south african lad and 2 guys that have fled afganistan, we see them as hippies but they dont like to admit it, they have given us lots of advise on australia and we will be going to visit them when we go, so all round another great day....2 very happy people right here.
