Bali, Kuta:
Our plane landed in the evening on Sunday 28th September. We went to collect out baggage and after a while realised we were the only people stood at the wrong conveyor belt and barely any bags were coming out. We went to join everyone else who had been on our flight at the next conveyor belt yet we still the last people there, still waiting and wondering where our bags were. A man came up and told us some of the bags had been taken off at the bottom of the conveyor belt. We were very annoyed about this as had been stood there for ages…why would someone take our bags off? Those bags had caused us nothing but grief that day. Anyway, it had been a long day of travelling and waiting at airports, we were happy to just get a taxi to our hotel ‘Warung Coco’ in Kuta and check into our private room.
Our hotel had a really nice pool and sunbathing area and it was absolutely roasting even when we got up for breakfast at 9am. After having a look around the town we spent the rest of the day sunbathing and we could not believe how hot it was. Probably the hottest place we had been all year! We went for dinner at a nice little Italian that we found. After getting distracted by all the shops up we headed back to the hostel to get ready. Later on, we returned to Legian which is the main street with all the shops, restaurants and bars. After walking up and down many streets, and asking a million people, we found the bar called Alley Cat where we were meeting Jenna and Coops. It was absolutely full of Australians! We met up with them and their friends, Nikki, Linesy, and Evan. The bar did ‘double doubles’ which were strong drinks of vodka red bull for just 15K (1.5 dollars). Coops and his friends kept buying trays to the table and we were all getting smashed. When we left Evan was far too drunk and the boys took him home. We waited with the girls outside the bars, talking to some random people. We were having emotional chats with each other about how much we loved each, realised how drunk we were and headed home (which was an absolute mission also)!
The next day we woke up for breakfast absolutely hammered still and had to get ready to go and meet Jenna and Coops and their friends at their hotel at 10am. It was Linesy’s birthday and we were going to an amazing beach in Uluwatu. Everyone was still do drunk, Evan didn’t remember anything from the night before and was very confused when Ellie hugged him and wished him Happy Birthday when it was actually Linesy’s birthday. We got back on the Smirnoff ice and beers straight away and got headed to the beach with an amazing driver we named ‘G’day’. Immediately Evan was sick out of the window and down the taxi! The journey was long but hilarious, drinking and singing to the radio. When we arrived we sat in the bars which were up in the cliffs, overlooking the amazing views of the sea where there were loads of professional surfers. We plugged in Lisa’s ipod and got our own party started in one of the bars. The weather and views were incredible. The boys had a massage and the girls did some shopping. Then we went back to find G’day and headed home. We left the others at their hotel and headed back to ours. After dinner at our favourite Italian, we went to bed for a nap, the night before and all-day drinking session had really started to kick in. We were supposed to wake up at 10pm and go back out but it didn’t happen!
The next day we chilled at Jenna and Coop’s amazing rooftop pool for most of the day. The weather was unreal. We then went shopping with Jenna, it wasn’t as cheap as the rest as Asia had been but we managed to haggle and get some good stuff. The four of us then went for dinner together and then we headed back to our hostel. It was just the two of us going out that night, as we were walking down Legian street we got dragged into a posh hotel by a sparkly silver women on stilts and went up a lift to an empty bar. We had our free drink and left asap. Then we headed straight for Alley Cat and got on the double doubles! We sat with some strange guys from Austria and had some drinks with them until the bar shut. Then we went to Bounty. At the front there was a pole and we thought it would be a good idea to try pole dancing. Everyone was watching us and taking photos and thought we were absolutely mad. Then we went into the main club where we danced even more crazily, requested loads of Disclosure, and danced in the DJ booth like we were some kind of celebrities. After that we went to the Engine Room which was fun. We danced some more then bought some delicious pizza to eat on our long walk home.
The next day we had to check out after breakfast and begin our journey to Gilli T which involved an extremely long bus journey and then a boat across to the island!
