Ellen's Mini Adventure!
Well well well......what an eventful last week in Thailand it has been.........and a fantastic one at that!
Last Thursday was the day i met my new tour group with whom i will be travelling through Southern Thailand, Malaysia and into Singapore....we met at 6 pm, and there are 18 of us.....quite a big group....and initially was a little daunting as 10 of the group had been trevlling together for the past 30 days through other parts of Asia!!!! So anyway, we had an initial ice breaker night, and all went our for a few beverages and dinner, and soon all started having a fantastic time together, as a new group. We are all Brits, and there is one Canadian, Norman, an enthusiastic 54 year old, the rest of us all in the 18-35 age bracket! our tour guide is an Australian girl called Louise, who is also lovely and really helpful!
Ive become particularly good friends with an Irish brother and sister called Katherine and Paul, who are also going onto Australia, and also getting on great with a girl called Emma from Halifax, she has me in stitches she is so funny, plus as a group we are all having so much fun, so the next few weeks are set to be a great time!
We left Bangkok on Friday, bright and early, and headed to just outside of the city of the River Kwai, one of the last remain floating markets in Thailand. Was a lovely day, and we went on boats along the river, shopping and watching all the locals sell their trade upson the river banks.....was a great atmosphere.
From here we got ANOTHER overnight train down to Koh Phangan, but the journey itself was an excuse to get to know each other and we all chatted for hours, and i made sure to get all my photos from home out so they've all seen you all!! ha.
Arrival on the beautiful island of Koh Phangan was a welcome rest for us all, and we were spending 4 nights here, so we all relaxed and spent our time on the beach, in the sea, playing LOADS of volleyball.....am actually getting pretty good........however.....Sunday......it was Norms birthday and i had a little 'accident'...involving 14 concrete stairs and me falling over my own feet and falling down them- doh!.....was not a pretty sight, and am a little bruised and battered, but has been a moment for all to remember, and i am now the butt of all jokes for the rest of the group! We stayed in adorable beach bungalows, perfect setting, and had cocktails and beautiful food along the beach front every night.......what a life!
From Koh Phangan, feeling fully relaxed, we all set off for our last stop in Thailand- Satun. A small town, with little to offer, but on the boarder so we crossed easily into Malaysia today........and am now in country number 6........how time flies eh!
I am currently in Penang, and we are here for two nights, so we are heading down to the harbour this evening for dinner, and a day of exploring tomorrow! Girls drink for FREE here in malaysia with this tour........blimin fantastic, so we are in our element, and the six boys will just have to be very nice to us in order to get some cheap beverages........they love their western ladies here apparently!
Right, so this is brief.....time is precious on these internet stops now i have left Thailand. Am going to load some photos in the next few days so you can see the people i am now travelling with.
Hope you are all well, keep in touch and speak to you soon
Love me xxxxx
