And so this adventure begins...
After a lovely last dinner and a teary farewell i set off on my journey, first through customs and onto my plane. I was seated next to a man who made it his mission to complain about anything he could, and in front of a toddler who's restless legs and calls for 'mamma' made it difficult to sleep. Upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia we had some breakfast and snoozed for a few hours before discovering 'Country's Tid-Bits & Candies Cottage'. This place literally had every kind of dried fig and cuttlefish known to man, but alongside this it also had a large range of lollies...and unlimited tasters...With our bellies full of these sweet candies we snoozed a little longer before boarding our final flight to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Our flight from Kuala Lumpur to Ho Chi Minh was a little more eventful with the pilot doing 'drifties' in the clouds as we were landing in Vietnam. The airport was silent, quite a contrast to what we found outside! We had a hotel transfer (luckily) who wound us through the city to our hotel. The roads are insane. So many people had warned me of how the 'road rules' work here in Vietnam, but in fact, as we found out 'road rules' are advised, however not inforced. Indicators are optional, you don't have to stop at red lights, or even stay to one side of the road...crossing the road is even more exciting...there are buses and cars and trucks and pedestrians but most of all, motorbikes and vespas...EVERYWHERE! We checked in to our hotel and decided to find some food before heading off to an early night, as none of us had had any more than a four hours sleep over the last few days.

Love to you all. X
