Em's Adventures
Our last two days in Madrid have been doing some sightseeing in and around the city. Arrived here on saturday evening. Nice to be back in Spain again after travelling through Portugal.
Sunday used the opportunity to visit 'free'places within the city. Went to El Rastro market, mostly stalls sellings bags, clothes, fans, sunglasses, shoes and household goods. In afternoon went to Museo del prado, very famous museum in Madrid, apparently one of the top three. Wandered around there for about 2 hours which was interesting enough though probably more interesting if art was a major attraction for other travellers. Madrid also has some beautiful plazas and gardens to relax in. The city is never short of buskers - definitely adds to the atmosphere.
Today went to 18th-century Palacio Real and cathedral around...very spectacular inside palace, well worth a visit (esp if one has a student card)
Tonight planning to see some flamenco dancing combined with dinner, should be lots of fun.
