Eeyore on Tour
Other than a bit of concern over what my Jaqjaq and I though was Masking tape holding the flaps on and a very shaky turbulence it was an uneventful flight.
The Captain comes onto the tannoy to let us know that there was fog in Munich and that they would be landing the plane on automatic. We looked out the window and thought the visibility was good. From way up high we could see the ground clearly. Then the plane descended and we hit cloud and fog and the ground disappeared, along with the end of the wings. The fog was thick, we knew we were landing any moment but there was no ground in sight. Then the fog cleared and we could see the runway. Phew!! Automatic was probably the best landing I've experienced!!
The journey through Passport Control was the same as any airport, Passport Staff don’t smile anywhere!!! Baggage claim was easy then we were in the airport.
We knew we wanted the S1 train and luckily the sign posts around the airport were easy. Jaqjaq sorted the ticket machine out and we had a train ticket, now off to the station.
Now on the platform, there are a number of trains due but we have time to get our first Station Selfie of the Holiday. The train then comes in but Jaqjaq hesitates, she doesn’t think it’s the right train, I say they all go the same way so we jump on. I then study the map and, b*****, this one goes clockwise to our station, we wanted to go anticlockwise!! We jump up to get off but the train starts to move. b***** Bigger!! Ho hum, the next stop is seconds away and we can change. We get off the train and realise how clean and blinking cold the air is! There’s time for another station selfie and then we get on the correct train.
All is going well, the trains mostly empty and moving along nicely until we get to Neufahrn and the train stops for a while, the driver makes an announcement and I turn to Jaqjaq but apparently her Duolingo doesn’t cover Train Delays!! After about 20 minutes we’re off again, A few more stops to go and I can confirm that I now know that 'Nachste Halt’ means Next Stop and ‘Asufahrt Links’ is exit left and ‘Recht’ is right. Definitively not a wasted journey.
We finally arrive at HirschGarten station, it's been a long day but we can see the hotel, 2 minutes from the station.
