Having trouble getting through on computer, missed the chance at Kal and Laverton couldn't get through, Kings Canyon, they have a Pie company that wants to sign u up, as we are now at Alice we hope get this sent, currently going to copy this onto a memory stick and onto Alf.s computer as he seems to hve a better contact with rest of the world than us….fingers crossed

After stopping the night at Hyden, we proceeded to the Eastern Highway joining it just after Southern Cross and headed towards Kalgoolie, nice easy pace as all tarmac to Kal., travelled along the old water pipeline from Mundaring to Kal. spent the night there in our swags and tents, did a bit of shopping and then visited the Big Pit (open cast goldmine), its massive hole deeper and larger than when I last saw it, passed down Hannah's Str.(Paddy Hannah was the first to find gold there) and The Palace Hotel (we have stayed there before), filled up with fuel and off up the Goldfields highway to Menzies (stopped for coffee and some of Trudy and Tegans fruit cake..yum yum) and Leonora and then eastwards on the Great Central Road to Laverton, stopped there in camp site for the night, met a couple of guys out prospecting for gold ,who said they 'd found enough to pay for their trip, the mines around here run a dining room for their staff, a quick investigation and Geoff found out for $15 and eating between 6 and 7 pm we could eat as much as we like, from a large menu, I ended my meal with apple dumplings and custard.
