Today we visited the girl we sponsor at the SOS Village just outside Colombo. SOS Villages is a great organization founded to care for orphaned children and children whose parents cannot look after them. The village is setup with houses of ten kids looked after by a house mother. There is a school on-site and medical facilities and playgrounds. The SOS Village also has a family support outreach to support neady families in the area, the goal is to educate and support the whole family so the child can stay with their natural parents. For a very small amount by Western standards we pay for Nethmi to stay in the SOS Village. She is the cute dot in the light blue dress on the right.
