Good Morning from Laos.
Its seems a long time since the last blog because so much has happened. We ended the last blog when we had arrived in chiang mai. That night we went out with the our fellow travellers from our trekking group and lets just call it carnage! Most people did not get back o the hotel until 5 a.m. knowing that our trek began the next morning a 9 but it was worth it.
We set off the next morning on a 2 hour drive with our guides Tee, Sammy and Sang. The description of the trek had been sloping hills. It looked more like everest when we got there. We had three great days on the trek and met some great people. The guides made the trek. Sammy and Seng were like a comedy act. During the day Sammy would be the one cracking the jokes but come darkness Seng became the entertainment with his stories, probably because of all the magic mushrooms he was eating!
The 3 days contained many activities such as walking, elephant riding and bamboo rafting. W saw things that we will never see again in the villages that we visited. However, the best part of the trek had to be sitting around the camp fire in the evening playing stupid games and getting to know each other.
The end of the trek called for one last big night out in chiang mai before we left. The whole group went for a meal together before setting off to look around the local night bazaar (market) to grab a bargain or 2. It wasn't long before we found ourselves back on the sangsung buckets again (bottle of whisky and 2 cans of coke in a bucket) and from the looks of the pictures we had another top night.
The next day we said our goodbyes and left the group for vang vieng, laos. 23 hours, 3 bus journeys and a bit of commotion at the thai-laos border, we finally arrived at the destination. I hope tubing is worth it!
Bye for now
