We had booked a Thai cooking coarse for today, but cancelled it and moved it to Thursday so I could spend the day in bed. I was peaking.
I hadn't eaten properly since Thursday and needed to get something in my stomach, even if it wasn't going to stick around there that long. I decided I felt like I could probably eat a McDonalds cheeseburger and maybe a fries at a push. There's something about ketchup covered cardboard thats appealing when you're not well. Hangovers for example are cured by McDonalds, case in point. Edd had sussed out all the local western fast food joints and went in search of a MaccyD's for me; he decided to also get his hair cut at a local barber along the way as his mop was getting thick and long. I stayed in bed, in the foetal position, feeling sorry for myself.
He came back an hour later with McDonalds and a mullet. He blamed me for leaving him unattended for so long. Apparently he'd had his hair cut by a gay Thai man who cross questioned whether or not he had a wife/girlfriend. He quickly put it out there that he was married, to a woman and then questioned the barber on his love life. It went something like this:
Edd: 'Wife?'
Barber: 'No'
Edd: 'Girlfriend?'
Barber: 'No'
Edd: 'Boyfriend?'
Barber: 'Ha ha ha' followed by a nose pull. Edd was scarred.
At about 1pm I had a bit more strength and we went out for a walk. Edd is used to 2 walks a day, so I knew I had to take him out at least once or he'd ruin the furniture. (Family inside joke - Harry the dog gets 2 walks a day). We walked around the immediate area, daring not to wander too far in case I took a turn for the worst. We wondered into jewellery shops, clothing stores and furniture stores. As a rule of thumb, because they probably had a chair I could sit on and air con. We found a really nice jewellery store that sold silver at an amazing price (compared to England, a steal really) and found a beautiful silver bracelet that Edd bought me. (In the words of my mother in law - to be: 'silver is very healing.' I have to agree.) We meandered a bit further but my strength was fading fast, so walked back to our guest house.
We skipped dinner that evening and I got an early night, hoping the next day would find me feeling significantly improved.
