We decided to make today a lazy day. Or more like, I decided, Edd didn’t have much choice. We got out of bed a little after 11am and went in search of lunch, after dropped our washing off with the guest house owner. We went back to the cheap place we’d found and ate there, with a couple of other westerners who had rocked up to before the mad rush.
It was a beautiful day and one that definitely needed to be spent by a body of water; the swimming pool right opposite our room was going to be the spot, but I thought we should get a few snacks to get us through to dinner.
We bought snacks for the next 2 days, decided that Monday was going to be surf day, which meant we’d need supplies for the beach as well. We got crisps, a 1.5 litre bottle of water, a roll of mentos mix fruit sweets and biscuits. A large tub of chocolate wafer cigars; it was cheaper to get a massive pot than a few packets, so we invested, also getting a pack of the regular coconut kind, as they were also on special and on offer, in bulk.
We paid and went back to our guest house, changing into our costumes and creaming up for a day of swimming, tanning and relaxation - these days were numbered, and running out fast.
I sat and blogged on and off all day, as Edd obsessively worked on his tan; acutely aware of the fact that we were moving to Melbourne in less than a week, where it was winter.
We had G&T’s on our balcony again, before going to dinner at a restaurant just down the road from where we were. Neither of us were particularly hungry, so I suggested we share a pizza; we decided against this idea momentarily, after asking how big they were and not being particularly satisfied with the size vs. the fact that we were sharing. A couple just behind us had ordered pizza’s though, and they came out, perfectly timed, before we had ordered. They were curious as to why we were looking at them and I explained that we were trying to decided if we should order a pizza to share and if we did, which one; the girl offered me a piece of her vegetarian pizza, explaining that she’d asked for the cauliflower and beans to be excluded. Why anyone would suggest putting that on a pizza in the first place, was anybodies guess.
I politely declined her offer, which was very kind of her, and Edd and I decided to order what her boyfriend had been served: the ‘special.’ We had a bottle of water with us, so didn’t bother ordering the overpriced drinks on offer.
Our pizza came very quickly and we devoured it even quicker. We paid and left, both decided that our bed was calling, and it would be rude to ignore it.
