It was our last breakfast on the boat; we got up and were sitting around the table at 8am, having ordered a coffee latte and juice. It was strange how quickly you get used to sharing a space with a random collection of people: the American mum and daughter, mum is a lawyer and daughter is starting a job in politics, the family that consisted of dad and daughter, dad being seemingly well connected in the Indonesian world and named dropped a bit about vice presidents and private jets, daughter was sweet and kept to herself, and then the honeymooners. It turned out the guy was the guitarist in a Korean rock band that was very famous in Korea; they'd had gigs lined up in the USA, but could not get the correct visas in time to go, so had to cancel the shows. His wife showed us a Youtube video of when they'd been on TV; we all teased him saying we wanted back stage passes when they finally got the right visas to travel the world. It was going to be sad saying goodbye to this collection of random individuals; we were all quite pleased that we got on well, being in such close proximity to each other for a week, it could have been a very different experience had we not gotten along. The boat trip had started off on a bad note, but had ended as one of the most best experiences of our 4 month of travelling.
The honeymooners and the family were the first to leave, they had the 11am flight back to Bali, so we waved them goodbye after swopping contact details to keep in touch. Edd and I then went downstairs to finish packing our bags; it was weird to not be going out for a snorkel or going on to the top deck for a tanning session.
We minced around until 12pm and were then transferred to the speed boat, to take us back to the pier. We waved the Americans goodbye - they had the 4pm flight, and made our way back to shore. A car was waiting there for us and we all crammed in - there was only 1 car for all of us, instead of the grand entrance a few days earlier when there was one per couple.
We got to the airport in record time and had to get our itinerary out to prove that we needed to be there; our bags went through a security check and we then made our way to the counter to check into our Garuda flight. We had one hour to kill so went upstairs and sat in the waiting area and hooked up to the Wi-Fi, after going through security again, 5 meters away from the first scanner.
We boarded our flight 40 minutes later and were sitting right in the front; it was interesting that the flight numbers started at 21, instead of the usual single digits moving up. The flight back to Bali was one and a half hours and I sat and blogged, while Edd sat and played Mexican trains on the iPad.
We collected our bags and met with the tour guide again who had taken us around Bali originally; we loaded our bags into he back of the car and then started off back to Senur. The trip took about half an hour and we accidentally passed the entrance to the hotel, as it was a narrow slipway and not very clearly marked. The driver turned around and made his way up the narrow driveway dropping us off at the reception. We did the usual passport check in and Edd and I ordered breakfast boxes for the next morning; we were leaving very early and would not be able to have breakfast with his parents.
We were then taken to our rooms, which turned out to be a villa with another private pool; I could definitely get used of this! The entrance was marked with a sign above it that said Villa Steer, which I personally thought was lovely touch. Welcome drinks were waiting for us on the patio and we were told that we would each receive a 10 minute foot massage in about half an hour. We unpacked our bits and pieces and put our costumes on for a swim; I also started loading up the blogs as I was a week in arrears and the Internet was not that great, so the photos took ages to upload.
We decided to have dinner by the pool again, even though the restaurant was right next to our room. We ordered our usual bottle of pink rose and each had a prawn starter except for Edd's dad, who had fishcakes. Edd, his dad and I, each had a plate of pork ribs for main course and his mum had a seafood curry; she was going to be all prawned out after this meal!
We then sat and finished our wine on the couches, while I continued to upload photos and Edd and his mum looked for accommodation for us in Singapore. Edd then went to bed and I stayed up and finished the accommodation booking with his mum. I followed him, half an hour later and climbed into any enormous canopy bed with beautiful mosquito netting that was draped all around us; it was a pity we are only staying here for one night. The Wi-Fi password for this accommodation was heaven on earth and in reality, it definitely was.
