December is generally a wet season in Malaysia. Almost every other day will be blessed with rain from drizzle to heavy downpour. But it did little to dampen the holiday mood of many people.

Co incide with school vacation, For Malaysian, December is a month to hit the road. Kids who escape from being sent to innumerable motivation or team-building or summer (or rather rainy) camps pester their parents for the-dont you dare-to miss-the promised-trips to the seaside vacation spots or to forest sanctuary or to water theme park or visit the grandparents or... The list is endless. For the lovebirds this is the month to tie the knots. Malaysian send away the brides or the grooms in motorcades half a mile long.

For whatever reasons, the expressways will be jam packed most of the time especially during weekends. Thankfully, Malaysian expressways are well equipped with comfortables and convenience rest areas some 30 to 60 kilometers aparts. A great place for hungry travelers to have a decently good meals in various food joints with impressive arrays of menus or to fill up on gas or for Muslims to say their five times daily prayers. They have great facilities some even have showers apart from the customary wide and airy rest room. A couple RnRs even have small motels. Can't say much how the motels fares as i have yet to check in.

But then again this is December. Be mentally ready for the crowds. Consider yourself lucky to find empty tables to have dinner in food courts. Pat your own back if you able to find place to park your vehicle. Don't be discouraged with long queue of cars. On peak hours you may have to check few RnRs before you barely find a space to sneak in. Hey..... this is holiday after all.
