Da Nang seems to be 3rd all the time. Its is the 3rd biggest city in Vietnam. In the 60's it was the 3rd busiest airport in the world, because of all the G.I.'s coming here for R&R at China beach. Today it is the 3rd busiest airport in Vietnam. When I landed there today ours was the only plane to be seen. It is a transport hub for the 2 importand towns nearby, Hue and Hoi An. Im here cos it is the only place I could fly into. I will be heading off straight away to Hoi An, and coming back in a couple of days to get the train to Hue.
My flight from Saigon was delayed from 11.50 to 14.00. There were no signs to tell us they just didnt put it on the board. When I noticed it was not on the board I went and asked what was happening and was told of delay. It was then too late to transfer to another flight cos it was already overbooked. Bet that was fun for the last people to check in.
I got a taxi straight to Hoi An for 350000d and came via the coast road. This bought me past the swanky five star resorts at China beach and the Marble mountains. They do not mine the marble here anymore, they import it from China. There are lots of carvers in the area and some of their stuff is incredible. They will ship it anywhere in the world. There is alos a couple of golf courses across the road and one is designed by Greg Norman.
