dzasta travels
I booked a one day tour for today because the place it too big to walk everywhere. The green tour does over 200km so I didn't want to be in a bus all day so I booked red tour. I should have read the itinerary first. the main part was the open air museum and I saw that yesterday. I was picked up first in a first class tour bus. We toured around town picking people up from different hotels. We ended up with 4 Indians, 6 Chinese, 2 Brazilians and me.
First stop was "the castle" a massive place of houses carved out of the rock. Then we went to the museum. I sat and read a book for the hour they looked around but I did go back into the last place cos it was soo cool.
Lunch was included in the tour and this really gave us a chance to get to know each other. I was lucky and got to sit next the the very hot Brazilian girl. So I bought out all my best Espanich, "Buenos Dias signorita.me nombre is Juan hola" I didn't do too well cos they speak portugese don't they? Derrrr!!. Anyway I got everyone talking about where they come from and where they going and we were swapping travel hints about Turkey. Amongst this one of the Chinese girls said she was from Shanghai, I said I love Shanghai. That got us talking about China and it turns out I have been to more places in China than all of them. Two of the girls said they went ballooning this morning and they started at 4.30. That's too early for me, it is freezing here at that time.
After lunch we spent most of the arvo looking at rock formations. Fairy chimneys, and a trip to imagination valley. You needed a good imagination to see what they were talking about. We also stopped at a local winery for a tasting. The white was like vinegar but the red was drinkable, but we only got a small taste. Also included was the obligatory stop at the pottery shop. They gave us a demo of making a pot that was actually quite interesting. The potter spins the wheel with his foot and still manages to make something. I really liked the "wine jugs" so I asked the price. Including shipping and insurance I could get it and 2 glasses for about $600US???? I really liked them but not that much.
Im on the bus at 8.30 tomorrow to Ankara for a couple of days them back to Istanbul.
