dzasta travels
It was a great train trip. We got on at 10pm and arrived at 7am so everyone slept pretty much all the way.
When I arrived in Nizhney I was gonna walk to the Kremlin. I couldnt make any sense of the map in the LP and walked aimlessly for a while. A woman in a tram pulled up and gave me a hoy. I said "Kremlin" and she said something like "jump on handsome and I will take you there"...well thats what it sounded like anyway. Im glad I took the tram cos I never would have been able to walk there. It was too far and now that I have been there and back I still couldnt follow the map and find my way. I think they have put in the wrong map.
So i went into the Kremlin and wish I hadnt bothered.I have seen much better Kremlins and I have only seen one. There was nothing really old, except the walls, and the place was full of big Soviet buildings that all look the same, and a bit of world war 2 ****. There was more to see outside the Kremlin.
Now to spend the rest of the day getting to Suzdal. Back at the train station they said the next train to Vladimir is at 16.15. I couldnt find anything then it hit me that Mushrutka's going to Moscow go through Vladimir. So I started hitting them up and got one that would take me to Vladimir at11.15 then I could look for a conection to Suzdal. The driver was supposed to drop me off at the bus station but found a better place. A random corner. I waited for my bus and watched a couple of mushrutka's go past and decided to look up where they were going. They were all going to Ivanovo, which is past Suzdal and I could have taken any one of them. The next one that came I jumped on and it only cost 50 rubles (just under $2) for the half hour drive. He also dropped me off at a ramdom corner. I knew I was near Suzdal and started walking in the general direction. I could see all the monasteries but none have names on them so I couldnt work ou t which was which. I thought I was walking down Lenin st, (everytown has a main street called Lenin st) eventually I came across a bankand went in there to ask. Noone spoke english but we managed to work out I was on Vasillevskaya st and the Resurrection Church was just up the street. That meant I started off my map and had walked onto the map and now knew exactly where I was. Shortly there after I found my new digs for the next 3 or 4 days. Im at Godzillas in Suzdal and Im gonna chill here for a few days.
