dzasta travels
I got here on a shuttle yesterday. I really hate shuttles, they are cramped and uncomfortable and I am going to try not to take one again. Sometimes you have to. I would much rather take a chicken bus. Of the 11 people on this one 5 were Aussies. That was pretty unusual. Also there was a Japanese girl I met last week and we are going to travel together for a few days, at least to Copan. The driver helped my find a place to stay just around the corner. It is Ok but only just.
I was soo tired from my big night before I slept well. This morn I decided to take a walk along the beach. I was up at 7.30 and headed off. I think I made 500mtr? It was one of the hardest things I have done here. In front of my hotel is black volcanic sand but 20mtr down the beach is only rocks. It was really ************* the rocks in thongs. I suppose it would have been better in shoes but who wears shoes to the beach? I gave up that idea and headed back for breakfast.
This place is like Bali in the 80s. It is all about surfing and everyone comes here for the surf. There are not the shops and bars like Bali now but I suppose that will come. Everybody walks around carrying a board and trying to look like they can surf. You can hire boards here and get lessons if you want. The Italians go into restaurants without their shirt on and think it is ok.
Since I couldn't walk along the beach I had a chill out day. I did some washing and just hung out in town. I checked out the chicken bus, but I think I might have to take a couple to get to San Salvador. It has been great weather today, hot as hell, but not a cloud in the sky. I even had a swim in the pool at the hotel I am staying in.
Im going to try the chicken bus tomorrow and see where it takes me. Hopefully San Salvador or somewhere close, then I gotta try to work out from there to Copan. Yumi (the Japanese girl I'm traveling with) really wants to try a chicken bus that is why we are doing it tomorrow I think San Salvador to Copan should be pretty easy.
