One of our top goals on the Amalfi coast was to hike the "Walk (or Path) of the Gods", a trail high above the coastal and hill towns (about 2000ft elevation).
We got off to a rocky start (pun.. haha) when the public bus was over an hour late and then just waved at us as they sped on by (the public buses are always very crowded). Luck was with us in a way, though, as Malinda found a 50 Euro bill on the ground at the stop where we were waiting!
Because of the delay, we missed a connecting bus and would have had to wait 90 more minutes for the next (assuming it was on time and not full). We put the 50E blessing to work and flagged down a taxi to take us up the mountain to the starting location of the hike.
Ahhh, the expert explorers immediately took a wrong turn before even starting and turned a 4.5 mile hike into a 6 mile jaunt. Thank goodness for the charitable young man who picked us up in his car and drove us back to the starting point from whence we began (another YSI moment as a sign on the building clearly pointed the way).
A few valium for Michelle and Tom and a few hours later, we successfully completed the hike from the starting mountain town of Agerola/Bomerano to the coastal town of Positano.
It truly was a gorgeous route and worthy of its name.
