Left at 8.30 for Hanoi, and arrived at 12.30pm. We went straight for a walk with everyone past the HoChiMinh mausoleum and a statue of Lenin. We later found out that a Russian diplomatic car that we saw, and official looking visit taking place at the mausoleum was infact a meeting between Russian officials and the Vietnamese president to further trade agreements and defence information. We took lunch in a western style bakery, which was much more expensive than we'd become used to, before getting a taxi to the old quarter of town to look around. We saw the waterpuppet theatre and walked through a street market to a DVD shop and bought 5 new releases for two dollars fifty!! Back to the hotel for a quick PhoBo at the cafe opposite and then dinner st 7 at a restaurant called Little Hanoi in the old quarter. The 5 spice chicken was incredible!! We looked around for somewhere to go iut but it was a very quiet night in Hanoi, and so went back for some well earned sleep at 2am.
