4th-11th April Koh Tao
Arrived at Chumpon on a bus from Bangkok very early then got the ferry to Koh on the 4th, arriving at 9am. Taxi to Hat Sairee to meet Chloe and find accommodation. We rented a mo-ped to look around, get our bearings and find accommodation and we nearly lost will before finding an unbelievable resort called Ban's Dive Resort. Only problem was the only had one of their top villas but as it was a bargain we took it anyway, in hope that a standard room would become available shortly. That night we had dinner at Ferangos, an Italian restaurant, that would become a regular for us in the next week. We spent the 5th on the beach till 4.30pm when we drove to the South to try find a view-point to watch the sunset. Ferangos for dinner! On the 6th Ricky went to swap the mo-ped for a 225CC yamaha dirt bike for an expedition to Mango Bay. So most of the day was spent getting to the Bay along off-road tracks. Heaven for Ricky! When we got there we had a quick coke. Ricky jumped off the jetty for a swim, while Lucy enquired about kayak prices. Unfortunately, they were ludicrously expensive so we decided to head back up the 1000 steps we climbed down to reach the Bay itself. We then drove to the South and managed to find the official viewpoint, trekking up jungle/forest to the top. The view was incredible! It was too early for the sunset so we stayed a while then headed back for dinner. We caught the sunset by sitting on a restaurants decking on the beach where we had some seafood and amazing Banana shakes! (Served by a quite unconvincing Lady-Boy!)On the 7th we got our cheap room then booked Lucy's Advanced Open water course. We ended up chatting to one of the most enthusiastic come slightly psychotic instructor's working at Ban's for over an hour. That night we went to Ferangos for dinner then met the other 2 english girls (who we met on the tour) and their 2 guy friends at Lotus bar for some drinking games and a few buckets of Sangsom (cheap hooch). At 2am we headed to a bar for the Man U Champions League match Vs Bayern Munich. Had a cheeky pancake and headed back to the room. The 8th was a lazy day. We headed straight to Ferangos for lunch. We then watched Invasion and went for a dip in the pool before having an amazing Thai Curry at the hotel beach restaurant. We spent the 9th and 10th diving 3 times each day in the 30 Degree water, wearing just swim stuff. The most eventful of the two days being the first, with Lucy being bitten on the nose by a very aggressive Trigger fish and also the disco plankton on the night-dive. On the evening of the 10th we met the 2 English girls and headed for the Lotus Bar again for a relaxing drink and to watch some fire-dancing.The 11th was our final full day in Koh Tao and we met Josie and Chloe at a restaurant called Hippo's for some lunch before booking our transport to Koh Phangan.
