After a nice birthday meal last night in a restaurant with a view to die for, we left Cole’s Bay this morning heading north for St Helens. Up and off early this morning. On the road for 8am. It was a glorious morning and Bill took us along the coast to see some blowholes. Huge amounts of water being pushed through weakened fissures in the rocks.This was further up the coast from what we saw from the boat yesterday. What a day of contrasts. We woke up to thick low cloud and torrential rain. We were meant to be going on a boat trip this morning but were advised to swap to the afternoon trip. Instead we went next door to the Port Arthur Penal Colony. This involved a 40 minute walking tour (soaked through to the knickers) and a 30 minute harbour cruise where it was raining so hard you couldn’t see that much. An early start this morning to accommodate the Brisbane rush hour. The weather was atrocious-rain like I have never seen before. Got to the airport parking and lo and behold it stopped whilst we got the bags out of the car and on the shuttle bus. Then it started again.
