Year-long Retirement Odyssey
This scheduled stop on our journey was to drop off Jerry in Minneapolis so he could fly to his son's place in Kentucky and eventually head home to East Wenatchee. Jerry's cousin, Bob Tetrault and his wife, Linda, live in Apple Valley which is on the outskirts of Minneapolis/St. Paul. They were so hospitable to open their home to us for a couple of days ~ all four of us!
I had forgotten what it was like to sit in a spacious livingroom to visit and to sleep where the whole place doesn't rock when I turn over in bed. Also, Linda so graciously let Arlene and Sharon use the washer and dryer ~ a wonderful change from sitting in the laundromat at least once a week! Also, we were able to run some errands and do some shopping not too far from the house. In the evenings, we would sit and visit together until the old man's (me) eyes got too heavy and it went past my bedtime (21:00 for all you military-types).
As an added bonus, we were entertained by two of Bob & Linda's grandchildren, Peyton and Maddyn. Even Roxie got into the act! They were so cute and playful. I have to admit, it made us miss our own grandchildren! So, we were able to play with some "borrowed" grandchildren! :-)
After Jerry flew out for Louisville, KY, the next morning, we completed our errands and prepared to leave the following morning on the "second part of our journey" with just the three of us.
