Cusco is the point through which all our travels go and this time we're splashing out on a very nice train ride from Puno. It's the Andean Explorer and the train goes through spectacular scenery in the ten hours it takes to get there. We take the plane from Cusco to Juliaca and are picked up by a taxi from the hotel in Puno, the town next to Lake Titicaka were we will spend about two weeks. We arrive in Cusco in the early afternoon after a flight from Lima. The altitude here is going to be an interesting factor, with it's 3300 meters above sea level it will be like nothing we ever experienced before. My mother's friend Susanne gives us a lift to the airport. We take a flight from Alicante to Barcelona and arrive around 11 pm. Our flight leaves 6 am next morning and we fly via Amsterdam to Lima.
