We're leaving Granada early afternoon so I take the opportunity to have a look around Granada in the daylight. It's a much different town when the sun is up. The cathedral is relatively modest inside. There is a school group of tourists up the front who are listening to a woman who appears to be in some sort of period costume. Suddenly she starts singing. Despite the fact that I am sitting at the back and she is right up the front the accoustics in the church mean I can every word clearly. Her voice is magnificent and I sit there a little spellbound. It's one of those unexpected and special moments you sometimes get when you travel. We head off for an hours bus ride to the ferry terminal, from where we will have a 2 hour boat ride to Ometepe Island which is located in Lake Nicaragua. Our ferry is more like a cargo barge and I smile at its name, The Che Guevara. 60 years on he is still a hero. The ferry is quite full of people, trucks and cars. In fact they are parked so close together we struggle to get ourselves and our packs between them. Our arrival at Ometepe Is is chaotic. Cars and people trying to get off and the same trying to get on. And hordes of people standing around doing nothing other than making the whole process more diffcult. We finally find our bus and 30 minutes later are at the hotel which is absolute waterfront. Our 2nd story room has a great view over the water. I hit the sack soon after dinner ready for a big day tomorrow.
