We are not due to leave for San Jose until early afternoon so I take the opportunity to have a look through some shops for a souvenir of Costa Rica. A couple of possibilities and I head back to the hotel to think about them and also bring my blog up to date. Sandra, Richard and I decide to grab some lunch before we leave and the coffee shop on the main street is the choice. Good food and good coffee and a pleasant outlook. Lunch done and I have decided to buy a little pottery bowl. These are quite common as decorative items in shops and restaurants etc. so seem to reflect the Coista Rica I have experienced. We leave around 1.30 for what should be a 3 hour trip to San Jose. We seem to be making good time until we hit the outskirts of the city and run into their version of peak hour. We crawl along for more than an hour and as such don't get to the hotel until around 5.30pm. There is also a stuff up at the hotel. Myself and 2 others have booked extra nights but the hotel has no record and our leader has instructions to take us to another hotel completely. Many phone calls and emails and we all end up paying for our extra night, despite having already paid. The is one for Intrepid to sort out. Our final dinner is at a Cuban themed restaurant and again because of the traffic and the many one way streets it takes us about an hour to get there. We have a good meal and enjoy the live Cuban music which is being played. Back at the hotel Richard and I share a bottle of wine he bought some time back. It's been a good end to a good trip.
