How much do you think you can do in one day? A lot.
Since flying from Finland straight to Hawaii seemed like a terrible idea, I thankfully had a one day "rest" in New York City, during which I stayed at a friends place. As both of our lives revolve around food, we planned our day accordingly. Starting off, with a bagle for breakfast.
After our delisious bagles we went to roam around the city, with our first stop being Rockefeller Center.
As you may know, they have put up flaggs from basically every country, and naturally I had to try and find the Finnish flag.In which I succeeded as well. Going to rockefeller center was actually a spontaneous move, since we had just been to buy our tickets for a Broadway musical; Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella.
Moving on...
Even though this was my fifth time to NYC, I still had never been to Central Park. So our next meal was to be a picnic in the midst of trees with our food from this incredible place called Così. Trust me, if you ever have the chance to have their food. Take it! Their bread is amazing!
Once again, moving on. We had a really nice time at Central Park. One of the reasons being the great weather, of course. But even so, even with so many other people around, it is a surprisingly calm and peacefull place.
At the park there was some sort of cosplay gathering going on. This was actually really nice to see, as most of the costumes were really good! These two stood out especially. Well, at least in my opinion. But that might have something to do with the fact that I was obsessed with Pokémon when I was a kid. Nevertheless, these two managed to make awesome costumes.
It seems that whenever we ahng out, we always end up here. Barnes and Noble. And there is no better way to describe this place, than how my friend described it: "Barnes and Noble is like my church. I go there every Sunday."
Those two sentences just summ it up so perfectly! WE can litereally spend a whole day there. And it is almost impossible to walk out of there without buying a book!
Naturally after intaking all the greatness off B&N, we needed more food. Burritos.
As I previously mentioned, we had bought tickets to see Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. And man were we lycky with our tickets! Student tickets in orchestra with a good view.
Most shows only have student tickets during student rush in the morning, but luckilly my friend was smart enough to ask at the box office if they had any student discounts. So, instead of paying nearly $100, we payed less than $40.
I have never been dissapointed after a Broadway show, and this was no exception. Unfortunatelly I don't know how the original story goes, but it didn't follow the classic Disney storyline, but instead it had a few interreting twists in it. Wheter it was just the Rogers and Hemmersteins addaptation that has these twists or if they were in the original stories, it was still really good in my oppinion. The costumes were pretty, and the music is catchy. But I especially liked the humorous dialogue between them.
We concluded the day with some smores at the appartment and I had to almost re-pack everything in preparation for my last flight.
So, you can do a lot of things in just one day, when you know that's all the time you have. :)
