Just leaving Gili T after 5 nights there. Our last few nights in Lombok were very nice. We went on a small trek to a few waterfalls just at the bottom of the Rinjani volcano. They were very impressive and was incredible to swim under them and feel the weight and force of the water!
It was nice to hand the car back with no damage, especially considering the roads we had tried taking it on!
We then went to Gili T, famous for it's night life and partly scuba diving. We however didn't realise that ramadan would make much of a difference ...which it did! The music was turned off at 11 each evening because of the prays at the mosque.
I was going to do a dive at the island, but we first went on a snorkelling trip around the neighbouring islands. We saw some turtles but not nearly as cool as scuba diving with them, and a rather long sea snake which I personally kept my distance! On the trip we went to a few of the dive sites that the scuba divers we at, and it looks pretty mediocre. I decided to not dive because it didn't look as exciting as the other dives and they jammed the dive boat with as many as they could, essentially it was ridiculously commercialised.
We instead went on a fishing trip which was great fun. Mate caught a White snapper which was just big enough for us three to eat. So we went to a local restaurant and asked if they would BBQ our snapper, so we sat down and weirdly, I enjoyed the fish as much as most meats!
We're now leaving Gili T back to Bali because Tim has his flight in two days. So we're going to rent some mopeds and travel a bit of the peninsular. Then when Tim leaves Matt and I are going to look into a proper fishing trip on a trolling boat to catch some big fish! Fishing's not actually as boring as I originally thought!!
See you at home in a 8 days!
