Checked out this morning and used the Internet until my bus to the airport. Had a bit of an annoying check in experience when the guy tested me for explosives and it came up positive but it was all fine. I was just reading the lonely planet in the bookshop to see what else I wanted to do in Sydney, then noticed that my plane was already boarding. I got on and was asked to sit in one of the emergency exit seats as I boarded, and said ok as I didn't see any reason why not!
Once I was getting settled on the plane though, I started to realise that I didn't have my phone! I was getting pretty worried, but the flight attendants wouldn't let me stand up and check my bags until they had given the safety demonstration to the emergency exit passengers...I was very unimpressed. By the time they let me double check, the aircraft doors were closed and there was "nothing they could do" - even though I knew exactly where it was in the terminal and we proceeded to sit in the airport for another 20 minutes. I was really annoyed by this point. As soon as the seatbelt sign went off i went straight to an air hostess and told her where exactly my phone was and what could they do. She went to call someone in the airport and in less than 5 minutes was back telling me they had found my phone and had it in lost property. Pretty annoying!! But lucky they found it I guess - I still thought of would be fairly easy to get it back at this point!
The flight was ok, I watched The Help which was really good. Got into the airport, tried to figure out how to get my phone back and was referred to a courier service. Thankfully managed to get the lady in lost property to at least give me Hollie's number, and a man in the airport lent me his phone to call her so that I could find out where I was actually trying to get to and let her know I was uncontactable!
I eventually made it back to Hollie's and tried figuring out a way to get my phone back - I was told it would be about $40 once I figured out which address to get it sent to.
After that we had a chilled out night, had pasta for dinner and watched the end of Inglorious Basterds...think I needed to see it from the start to get it properly!
