TRAVELLING - ZURICH TO INNSBRUCK
We got to the train station and boarded our train heading to Innsbruck, Austria, our next port of call. Along the way we got to see some awesome scenery on the four hour trip.
Ellexis and Angelique had a chance to do some school work, much to Ellexis' dismay. Angelique happily got down to it and worked through everything with her usual happy self. After a slow start, Ellexis got stuck into it and completed her work. It really is hard at times to make sure that the girls continue doing school work, however we have to remember the other experiences they are receiving by being here and seeing different cultures and countries is worth missing school for a few months.
We arrived in Innsbruck and immediately fell in love with the place. It didn't have the masses of tourists the other places have had, it felt like a small country town. We made our way to the hotel, dropped off our bags and set out to get started on our sightseeing.
We wandered down alleyways, across the fast flowing river and into the Old Town. We saw the Golden Roof Museum and marveled at the glorious buildings and signs. You really begin to feel insignificant when you are surrounded by buildings that are double the age of Australia. We came to the City Tower, 51 metres tall, dating from 1450 and climbed the 148 steps to a platform 31 metres above the town. Here we enjoyed the magnificent views of the mountain ranges and the beautiful medieval city below.
We came back down and just wandered around looking getting a feel for the place. After dinner at a quant cafe we headed back across the river, climbed up the hill and went to bed.
