Hola! Today was a travel day. We flew from the island of Contadora to Panama city, then drove from Panama city to a small town called Santa Fe. Santa Fe is located in the mountains within an inactive volcano region. It is a beautiful spot. I have loaded pictures. We stayed at a bed and breakfast called Casa Mariposa.
Along the way we stopped at a cigar factory in La Pinta. Enroute to the cigar factory we found our selves smack dab in the middle of quite a traffic jam in a very bust Panamanian town called Penomie. That was a bit of a hairy experience I must admit.
We also stopped Enroute in a town called Nata, and visited the oldest existing baroque church. It was quite something and I have added some pictures. The road leading from the highway to Santa Fe was a very twisty narrow road and we were most thankful to arrive in one piece. We landed at a bar called the Blue Iguana. We called our bed and breakfast from the Blue Iguana and the owners came to pick us up in their 4x4 because the road had been washed out by torrential flooding the previous month and had still not dried out, as it rains in that region daily. I have never seen mud like that!
The owners of Casa Miraposa, Kevin and Erica were great. We enjoyed a fabulous meal, a welcoming dip in the pool on the mountain side, and lovely accommodations in little cabins. They also rescue toucans and we had an opportunity to feed them some snacks.
