Sorrento
Today we went on an excursion to the Island of Capri which is surrounded by a rocky coastline where the crashing sea has formed awe inspiring caves. We transferred to the port for our boat ride to the Island and drove by mini coach up the winding, breathtaking route to Ana Capri. There were fibreglass painted cows everywhere, which was an international event of modern art linked to a fund-raising for charity through an auction organised by Sotheby's, which transformed the Island of Capri into an open-air art gallery May to July 2008. We also went on a chairlift up to the summit of Capri where there were beautiful gardens with an amazing view of the the island and the Gulfs of Neaples and Salerno. Then we went back down the mountain and boarded a speed boat for a ride around the island visiting private beaches and caves. The colour of the ocean was a clear deep clear blue which we were told was due to the colour of the sand. We returned to Sorrento and freshened up for a musical evening of Neapolitan songs and dances presented on stage with a continuous change of scenery. There was a beautiful terrace overlooking the Bay of Naples and the port of Sorrento where we sipped Champagne, an awesome evening.
