Hellooooo again!!! It seems my blogs are in popullar demand (I KNEW they would be!!) so thought it was about time I updated you all of what ive been up to for the last 10 days or so....
So...I spent 4 days with Ronnie Sam and Lauren in Phuket...we went to Thai Boxing which was AWESOME!!! a real highlight of my trip so far...there was 13 matches...starting with 2 little boys weighing just 55lbs each - they were TINY!! Hopefully you have seen the pics I put on here of that already. It was the opening night of a new stadium and we had perfect seats to watch all the fights. Most of the boxers were from Thailand but one match was a french guy against a Thai guy so all of the spectators were cheering for the french guy that werent Thai it was brilliant!!!! And he won the match which made it even more exciting...the crowd really got into it and it was the best fight of the night - I got my piccie taken with him afterwards too! The boxers all came and sat in the audience after they had faught too which was pretty cool. The other highlight of the night was an ex champion. 38yrs old came out of retirement to try and win back the title, which he did!! He looked really scary though and had piercing eyes - reminded me of a murderer from a film!!
We went into Patong a few nights - had a look down the strip where all the lady boys an prostitutes were which was certainly an experience! The amount of fat sweaty european men that you see walking around with young pretty thai girls can only be described as absolutely disgusting! There are so many you wouldnt believe - some as old as grandads it really is awful. We did a bit of shopping round Patong too, and found a guy selling DVD copies. Obviously they arent supposed to sell them so he was like 'come with me I show you what I have.' so we followed him down this street (this sounds really dodgy I know but it wasnt!) and into a suit tailoring shop (there are hundreds out here). I was like 'ha ha ha oh dont tell me theres a secret door behind the bookcase' - AND THERE WAS!!!! Was so funny....anyway got couple of dvds and tried one out so far which works although sound not great but for a pound cant complain! Also got Jamie a couple of Wii games, no idea if they will work but they were cheap so doesnt really matter....
Anyway...so had a couple of rainy days in Phuket but still got a bit of beach time in. Terri came back on the Friday and we checked into a place called Sugar Palm Beach for our last night in Phuket. Got it for 8 pound each with breakfast included as well - room was really nice - like an apartment! and it had a nice pool too so we chilled there for a bit and then went out for a final dinner with Sam Lauren and Seriol (she was on my tour too).
On Saturday we travelled to Phi Phi Island - this is where the Tsunami hit the worst - completely wiped the island out - there are still loads of places being rebuilt, apparently its not the same there since the Tsunami hit. The place we stayed was ok not great though and to be honest neither me or Terri particularly like the island - everywhere stank so bad and the dump was by the side of the road! We had a great view from our room though of the ocean which was pretty cool. On Sunday we went and found a nicer beach round the other end of the island (you can walk one end to the other in literally 15 minutes) and sat there for a while and then we sneaked into a really nice resort and used their pool for a bit was lovely!! At night we were walking across the beach for sunset (pics to follow) and ran into a couple that Terri knows from back home!! The boy Ben was one of her good friends sons, so we chatted to them for a while and ended up going for dinner and spending the rest of the night with them. We found a cool beach bar that had a fab live band and then some fire fighters - one of them was a young girl about 6 years old!! The really do exploit their children over here!
We decided 2 nights on Phi Phi was enough so on Monday we travelling over to Koh Samui which is where I am now. Have stayed in an awesome hotel for the past 4 nights (needed a bit of luxury after the last place!) called Buddy Samui Boutique Hotel. It has 2 pools, a gym, right on the beach and the room is great! Will put piccies on later....we went into Chaewang (main area about 15 minutes away) for dinner twice and went to see a lady boy caberet show - it was so bad it became funny! The highlight was Tina Turner - the lady / boy was fab and moved like her as well (though none of them were singing obviously and did the worst miming I have ever seen!). On Wednesday we hired a jeep for the day and a girl called Milan from Sweeden came with us for a bit that Terri met that morning. We went to a waterfall place, saw some elephants, a weird rock formation called Grandfather and Grandmother (because they look like a penis and a vagina!!) and then drove round the whole island in the smallest jeep you have ever seen!! I thought I was going to look like one of the twins from Sweet Valley high in a cool roofless red jeep but we got exactly the opposite! Pics of that to follow too!..
Anyway we have booked our next place to stay on the north of the island which looks pretty nice too - on the beach with a little pool so I'll be happy. We hav booked 3 nights there - when we arrived the manager came in and gave us a good discount which he shouldnt have, and then gave us his card in case we need anything at all!
Yesterday after sunbathing by the pool we went into Lamai early at about 5pm and found a great bar on the beach called the Swing Bar (its just a name). Its a bit like the mattresses on Plaza Beach in Marbella (not obviously not as glam) so we sat and had a few beers looking out at the water (beer is much much cheaper than anything else out here) - mum dont worry I have not been drinking pints they are bottles!. As we were there early it was pretty quiet so the waiters came and sat with us for a bit and chatted with us which was nice. Then we played a bit of pool and Tom (one of the Thai waiters - I'm sure his real name wasnt Tom) came and had a game too (Terri thinks he had a soft spot for me haha). Then we left there, quite tipsy, and got some dinner and came back to the hotel.
I think thats about everything for now - I've waffled on for ages as usual - hope you like this blog like the others and I will put some photos on later / tomorrow when I can find a computer that has the right software.....
Keep messages / emails / texts coming please!! Hope all is well back home with everyone
Muchos love
