Thursday 1st May
This region is the only place on Earth where two World Heritage listed sites exist; the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree rainforest
Today our plan was to hire bikes and pedal along four mile beach, first we went and sat on the beach and went in the little bit of water that you were only allowed In which the life guards had cordoned off with big white pipes and netting, this was due to a high risk of marine stingers and crocodiles, the beach was quite deserted, the water was 27 degrees and felt like bath water. Kevin & Perry (mike n Paul) had a few games of ping pong, we had our lunch on the beach then went to hire the bikes but we were side tracked to our apartment pool to chill a bit more and by the time we went for the bikes unfortunately (or not) the lady said her hubby had gone to the dentist and forgot to leave the key to the shed. Sooooo we went for a nice ice cream and chilled a bit more before walking down the marina to the Tin Shed for a drink (beautiful views) And yes we chilled a bit more before heading back and having my tea cooked on the communal BBQ by Mike n Paul.
Tomorrow we intend to go to Karunda it is a "village in the rainforest" so we will be driving towards Cairns. Usually you would go via a ride on the Karunda scenic train from the car park and the sky rail back down over the Daintree rain forest but unfortunately the train hasn't been running for the last two days due to repair work being carried out. So we will do a return on the sky rail (which is a shame as we may miss seeing the Barron falls)
