Rach had done a bit of reading around Costa Rica, but I'd not done any. So that was my chore for the morning after which we planned a route through the country taking in the places we both wanted to see. This plan meant we had to leave Puerto Viejo today & get across (via Puerto Limon) to Tortuguero. We left shortly after lunchtime, thinking the bus journey was about 1-1.5 hours, only to find it was 3 hours! When we arrived, a tour guide offered us a taxi ride down to Moin & to help us find a place to stay there as we'd missed the last boat & "you can only get to Tortuguero by boat or plane"! You'd think that after 6 months, we'd be clued up about travelling, but oh no!! The taxi ride cost us $10 & it was only when we were in the cab that I actually read the section on Tortuguero & found out there were no banks there. So we had to get back in the taxi & go back to Puerto Limon, (which he didn't charge for, because he'd already overcharged us anyway!). Once back there, we thought the town seemed a bit dodgy so quickly found a hotel (Hotel Big Boy!), that was still being built & stayed in for the evening.
