We arrived at franz josef which is a beautiful little village with views of snow capped mountains and a glacier. we climed the glacier early the next morning which was an amazing experience. we walked to the face of the glacier, then walked up some ice stairs with crampons on( big spikey shoes). we walked up the glacier and through some ice caverns. walking on ice was amazing and being able to see stones and stuff through the ice was incredible. then we walked back and left for queenstown.
