Hi all, this is the blog from my short time in San Francisco. I sat on a coach to get here for around 8 hours, and not like a coach you get in new zealand either. No music, no stops to walk around some lake, just weird americans sleeping the whole way. Which is probaly a good thing as in my experience you dont really want to speak to the them going on the evidence of the last week. As I could not find a hostel bed as they were all booked up it was off to some hotel that I found on the notice board at the coach station. That was thursday pretty much taken care of. The friday was spend looking around fisherman's wharf which was quite a nice area and where pier 33 is found. Pier 33 being the place where the trips to alcatraz leave from, which I had managed to get a place on one of the boats for monday. Saturday was spent with other mcguire grads at an improvement day, the usual stuff really that you get at a surport group plus contacts. That night I managed to sleep on someones couch which was handy and saved me some money. Sunday morning it was off to some hosteling internation hostel, a weird place but a cheep bed all the same. That day was pretty much like friday although i did do the open top bus tour on the friday. Pretty much just waiting for the alcatraz trip then I was out of there. So monday came and I was off to the pier for the alcatraz trip. A short trip to the island, cant see why no one managed to break out and swim across as its not that far. Anyway, the tour guides told us some history of the place then it was into the cell block for the audio tour. A really good trip and all apart from the added trip to angel island, which is a waste of time. That was san francisco finnished with.
