So here we are in Australia!! cant believe we're onto our 4th country already - not many left now!! a very early start to catch our flight over from Auckland - we had to be in the car by half 5 -thanks to sam for getting us to the airport on time! the flight left at 8 and was the same as any flight i suppose! a couple of funny moments involving a yoghurt and a cocktail!! we landed in sunny Adelaide around 10 and was met by a grumpy arrogant p****(excuse the language but only way to describe him really!!) who first off sent us to the wrong queue for immigration and then accused us of taking photo's on our phone's when we were stood there texting! great first impression of oz then!!!! Luckily the other people were fine and we made it through customs and baggage without any problems! we got the taxi from the airport and arrived at our hostel for the next few days - YHA. a really nice hostel thats recently been re-furbed! noe sized room and managed to get a 4 bed so no strangers to encounter yet!! first thing we did after getting showered and cleaned up was meet up with Andy again! was great to see him! we went down to the travel centre to try and sort out getting to alice and uluru but some plonker had decided to drive his car onto the track of the ghan train meaning the only way to get there way fly (way too expensive) or greyhound - not possible! meaning we cant do alice and the rock until the end of oz! instead we booked ourselves onto a 3 day trip from adelaide to melbourne going along the great ocean road! cant wait! quite content we'd sorted ourselves out we went off to explore adelaide! we didnt make it past the first bar! we ended up going in and watching the ashes whilst having a couple of drinks and catching up with andy!! not a lot else was achieved on our first day here and after being up for almost 22 hours due to time differences we went off to bed!!

next day we woke up at what we thought must be midday but was only around 9! we went out to explore adelaide (properly!!) and found victoria square - complete with massive xmas tree!! and some fountains - we also found an indoor market - we had a look around but didnt fancy the fruit much! we did a supermarket shop for supplies to cover us the next 2 days here before going back to the hostel for lunch! after lunch we caught a bus out to the marrion shopping centre - adelaides equivilant to blue water! unfortunately everything suddenly shut at 5pm on a saturday just before xmas?!!! so we went to the cinema there and saw casino royale - amazing film!! we got the bus back to the hostel, made some dinner and went off to bed!

On our final day here in Adelaide we got up early and went out to the CLELAND wildlife park! yes you heard it right, the cleland wildlife park! we got the bus out there which took around an hour and straight away i started posing for photo's!! the wildlife park was amazing, we saw koala's, kangaroo's, wallabies, tazmanian devils, dingo's, wombats, the lot!! the kangaroo's roamed free in the park and you could buy food and let them come up and eat it from your hands - got some amazing photo's with them and even attracted a little joey who spent ages eating out my hands (if only louise did the same?!!) the last thing we did there was visit the reptile centre where we saw 3 different breeds of snake get fed mice and devour them with ease!! the afternoon was spent walking to the river torrens and looking round the adelaide oval cricket ground, there was a game on so we ended up going in a watching the end of it before coming back to the hostel for dinner!!

so first city in oz done! quite a good time here although not long enough to get a proper feel of the place or to meet anyone worth mentioning!! next stop great ocean road and then Melbourne - bring it on!!!!
