After leaving Puno we took a long day bus over the Bolivian border to La Paz, the highest capital city in the world. Unfortunately we were transferred to a different bus company when we got to customs which was rubbish - instead of being dropped off at the La Paz bus terminal at 9pm we were left in the cemetery district (apparently very dangerous) at 11.30pm!
La Paz was fairly nice as we spent our first full day exploring the cities parks, plazas and markets on foot before going to dinner at a middle eastern restaurant that was brilliant. The temperature was lovely during the day but gets freezing cold at night because of the altitude (3600m).
The second day we visited more markets including a withces market that sold all sorts of strange items including dried Llama foetoses which are supposed to bring good luck. While we had enjoyed our two days we were not massively impressed with La Paz so decided to book up our transport to Uyuni where we would see the salt flats.
