Today we went to look around NASA Kennedy Space Center where we took a bus tour and walked around through the buildings.
We took a coach to the space center and we were informed about a launch that we didn't even know about being cancelled due to the weather. They planned to launch the rocket and then intentionally blow it up to test their command/module.
We took a bus tour that showed us around the space center, it showed us launch platforms 39A and B (where the moon launches took place), Crawler Transport, the SpaceX rocket that was meant to launch still on the platform.
We were taken to Saturn V's exhibit, where we were shown what the launch of Apollo 8 was like in the firing room and later we ended up in the hanger where Saturn V hung above us.
There were other things to look at in the hanger like a memorial for the unsuccessful Apollo 1 where 3 astronauts died in a deadly fire that broke out in the control/command module.
After leaving the hanger and taking the bus back to the main complex we went to see the famous Space Shuttle Atlantis. The Atlantis exhibition has information about how it was made, what it was made for, and specific stuff like how hot the engines get.
After Atlantis we took a break at the cafe and then went into Journey to Mars, where we looked at what NASA has planned for Mars and what was already there. Stuff like the Curiosity and Opportunity rovers as well as this unexpectedly funny photo email software, we took a lot of badly posed photos and sent them to people via email.
Afterwards we went to a NASA Now where they show all the current rockets and aircraft that they are working on with other companies, then we finished the day off with Mini Golf after dinner.
