We flew from Alabama to Georgia so the flight didn't take that long which was a relief now to see what was awaiting us in terms of our accomodation at the Thunderbird Inn. From the exterior it looked like exactly like the website photos, 70s porno retro chic, if there is such a thing. At least we knew the room was clean as the first thing that hit you when you walked I to your room was the smell of bleach. Either the housekeepers were a tad ocd in cleanliness or someone died in there and they wanted to make sure there were no lingering smells. Where we were staying was near the arts college so it was arty farty students everywhere but I saying that we did find a nice place for a meal and for Sean a craft beer at the distillery. Savannah is beautiful! Once we started exploring around where we staying (staying away from the ghetto part that was one street over) it is really beautiful. We caught the old trolley tour hop on hop off and we had a guide called Jeff. It was funniest, campest guide I think we have ever had and he was wonderful. He had been a guide for the tour company for 17 years, Sean and I laughed and laughed the whole tour. We also found a place that made pretty good coffee which was a huge relief. The majority of the time we just wandered the streets just looking. Sean did have half a day of playing golf - there were gators in the water hazards so that was a bit different. Where we stayed was in walking distance to town and to the old Savannah. It was just a couple of days where we just chilled and to get ready for our big train trip to Washington DC.
